EPF, the European Panel Federation, has members in 25 countries and represents the manufacturers of particleboard, MDF, OSB, hardboard, softboard and plywood.  The EU wood panel industry has an annual turnover of about 22 billion Euros, creates over 100.000 jobs directly and counts more than 5.000 enterprises in Europe.  The offices of EPF are in the centre of Brussels, next to the inner ring road and by the Trône/Troon metro station.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic (m/f):

climate and environment advisor

Function

Your task will be to elaborate action programs to provide positive information regarding wood and wood-based panel products to the right target groups –the European Commission, the European Parliament, governments & consumers. On a European level you will follow up the technological and scientific evolution, as well as policy developments regarding environment and research regarding, amongst others, the storage of CO2 in wood and wood-based panel products as well as the further development of the recycling of wood into innovative products. Using this information, you will detect the opportunities for the wood-based panels industries and develop proposals to stimulate their use in all end-user markets, especially furniture, construction and renovation as well as to foster the cascading use of wood to prolong its life-cycle and maximise its value and carbon storage contribution. The European Commission calls for a clean planet for all by 2050. Wood-based panels can play a major role in this, and your role is to help secure a share for our members’ products in this vision. Regular reporting to and co-operation with the national and European member companies are also part of this job. You will report to the Managing Director and will work functionally for him as well as for the Technical Director.

Profile

You combine a masters degree with a strong interest in climate and enviromental issues which you acquired through your studies and/or experience. Some years of experience are mandatory.
You are resident in Belgium.
You are familiar with the European Institutions. You are attracted to taking the responsibility for dossiers and projects. You are a team player who excels in working with a small and diverse group. You are communicative, convincing and enjoy giving presentations. For that reason, you must have an excellent command of both spoken and written English. Additional language abilities, particularly in German and/or French, would be an advantage. You are a hard worker and are prepared to travel abroad occasionally.
