Coordination of Large Recruitment Projects
Project Case: FIRM-IFDH
In 2024, we had the opportunity to collaborate with the Federal Institute for Human Rights (FIRM-IFDH) on an ambitious mission: recruiting six human rights attachés, each with a unique area of expertise. With a strict deadline, a large number of expected applicants, and six different profiles sought, this was a highly challenging project.
The Guardian of Human Rights
The Federal Institute for Human Rights was established in 2019 by the Belgian Chamber of Representatives to provide the country with a national human rights institute. FIRM plays a crucial role in protecting and promoting human rights in Belgium. The institute’s work includes monitoring human rights violations, advising policymakers, and raising awareness about human rights issues. FIRM therefore has a vital mission in our society, and it is essential that the right people are in place to protect our human rights. For Search & Selection, it was an honor that FIRM entrusted us with this task.
A Highly Coveted Position
The human rights attachés at FIRM play a key role in monitoring and strengthening human rights in Belgium. They apply their expertise across a wide range of tasks: reporting on the human rights situation in Belgium, meeting with policymakers, initiating research projects, analyzing legislation for compliance with human rights standards, and much more. Working for FIRM as a human rights attaché is an extremely engaging role within the Belgian human rights sector. It is a position that directly contributes to protecting human rights in Belgium while also having international impact. It is therefore unsurprising that the vacancy attracted significant interest: in just one month, we received 519 applications.
Our Approach
Since the expected timeline for this procedure was three months, it was crucial to evaluate all 519 applications in a structured and efficient manner. Establishing a clear process throughout the recruitment procedure was therefore essential.
The Outcome: On Time and Tailored
The result of this intensive collaboration? Five of the six positions were successfully filled, and a strong recruitment pool was established. The three-month timeline was respected. Three and six months after the hires, Search & Selection also sent satisfaction surveys to both the new employees and their managers, all of which were positive.
