Learning Agility

The key to agile employees

Hiring a new employee always involves a certain level of uncertainty. It’s never possible to predict with 100% accuracy how someone will perform in a role. During the recruitment process, we use an assessment center to evaluate each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses, personality, intelligence, and competencies to create a reliable profile. However, in a world where change happens faster than ever, another important factor must be considered: learning agility. Assessment Consultant Sara De Baets explains the value of this skill and why it’s so important in today’s workforce.

What is learning agility?

Learning Agility The term ‘agility’ can be translated as adaptability — how quickly someone can adjust their behavior to a changing situation. Learning agility combines that adaptability (attitude) with learning ability (cognition). It’s not about intelligence per se, but about the ability to apply previously acquired knowledge to new or unexpected problems. Employees with high learning agility can easily translate feedback into action in new situations and challenges.

How can learning agility be measured?

At Search & Selection, we measure candidates’ learning agility through a customized digital inbox exercise. This exercise focuses on four domains: coordination, decisive action, gathering and sharing information, and problem insight. Candidates are tested on their ability to process and apply feedback in new assignments. This gives us valuable insight into the flexibility and growth potential of your future employee.

Why learning agility?

We live in a world where change occurs faster than ever before. Today, it’s essential to recruit employees who not only possess the right skills and competencies but who can also grow and adapt to new challenges that come their way. Agile employees embrace new technologies and drive innovation, contributing to a forward-thinking, future-ready organization.
